Diamond clarity is one of the Four C's to consider when shopping for your engagement ring. While it is not necessary to have a flawless diamond, you do want to take proper measures to ensure your diamond is eye clean of any distracting imperfections and that the sparkled is not effected by those same inclusions. The diamond clarity scales goes from Flawless to Heavily Included; we recommend our clients to focus on the very slightly included (VS1 or VS2) to slightly included (SI1 or SI2) range to maximize value.
In this video diamond clarity is explained and some factors to consider are: the type of inclusions, the location of the imperfections, the size of the inclusion and its color. All of these can be seen on a GIA diamond grading plot however it will not always accurately depict how the diamond clarity looks in real life. Keep in mind that for certain diamond shapes such as emerald cuts it is more important to have a higher clarity grade
