Many of our Lauren B ladies love the look of larger style diamond wedding and eternity bands. There are several design options and diamond shape/size combinations to consider for these and picking the right one will depend on how you plan to wear it. Some styles may complement your engagement ring. Others, however may be more suited for wearing on your other hand as to not detract from your engagement ring. Let's break it down here:
Flat, low profile style pave band: These are a hit with our clients for many reasons. Not only is this band a smooth comfort style with a flatter design that is super easy to wear, they also create an even sparkle across the entire surface of the ring. This particular band sits beautifully next to our delicate pave design solitaires and halo rings because of how low it sits on the hand. These styles provide great versatility because they can be paired with most any engagement ring or worn as a stand alone ring on the other hand. They can be surely worn everyday and the diamonds are embedded within the metal maintaining a delicate and modern look. Professionals that wear gloves or use their hands at work on a daily basis find these styles very convenient because they do not catch or snag. We create these bands in custom widths (anywhere from 1.7mm wide and up), finger sizes, and diamond counts. We can also make them eternity, halfway, and 3/4 of the way. If you have a halo ring, this is a great option because it can easily be work together or as a stand alone piece.
Basket and U shape style diamond rings
These larger style rings make a gorgeous statement because each stone is enclosed within a basket or U shaped prong setting (see photo on the right of style# SOR-12370). The basket lifts the stones off the band giving it a very bold and beautiful look where each diamond outline is defined. Another plus for this design is that you can see the diamonds from every angle as opposed to the previous one where they were embedded into the metal. These bands are gorgeous and we find they look best paired with either a simple solitaire, elegant three stone ring, or worn on the other hand by itself. Because these are stand out rings, you would not want it to compete for attention with you engagement ring. Do keep in mind that because these bands are larger they do sit off the finger and can rub a bit against skin. We create these designs in class round cuts going halfway or eternity but also with fancy cut diamonds for an extra special and luxurious look.
Fancy shape diamond rings such as this 5 carat cushion cut eternity band that will look amazing as a stand alone ring. These eternity bands make a great anniversary gift or push present. They come in most any shape with the most popular being cushion cut, radiant, emerald and asscher cut. Matching fancy shapes is no easy task and will make these rings more expensive than classic rounds but the outcome is amazing!
Another option to consider are classic five and seven stone rings with diamond sizes of .25 carat each and up such as the ring shown to the right. These halfway style bands are mostly worn alone because the stone sizes are so large and will surely detract from your engagement ring. They are usually reserved for anniversary or special occasions as additions to your collection of rings.
To sum it up: Larger but flatter style pave bands look best on the same hand as your ring as well as on their own or separately on the right hand. Larger diamond bands with U-prong or Basket style settings will definitely look good separately from your ring but can be worn together with your engagement depending on the design of your setting.
